Simple, practical licensing

Choose the license that fits your product.

Both licenses cover one customized end product. Choose Standard when access is free for end users, or Extended when users pay to access or use it.

For free end products

Standard License

For one website, application, or client project that end users can access without paying for the product itself.

  • A public company website
  • An internal business dashboard
  • A free web application
  • One client project

For paid end products

Extended License

For one commercial end product where users pay to access the product, its features, or its service.

  • A paid SaaS application
  • Subscription-based access
  • Paid member features
  • A commercial application sold to users

Terms that apply to both

One license. One finished product.

Purchasing a theme gives you a limited, non-exclusive license to use it. Foxy Themes and its authors retain ownership of the original item.

01

What you may do

  • Use the theme to create one customized end product for yourself or one client.
  • Modify the theme as reasonably necessary to build that end product.
  • Allow employees and contractors to work with the files solely for that end product, provided they follow these terms.
  • Charge a client for your design, development, installation, or customization services.
  • Transfer the completed end product and license to one client, after which you must stop using the theme for that project.
02

What you may not do

  • Do not resell, redistribute, sublicense, share, or publish the theme itself, whether modified or unmodified.
  • Do not offer the theme or a reusable derivative as another theme, template, starter kit, UI kit, stock item, or open-source project.
  • Do not make source files available in a way that lets end users extract or reuse the theme separately from the end product.
  • Do not use the theme in a website builder, “create your own” service, or on-demand generator where customers produce separate customized end products.
  • Do not use one license for multiple products, separate client projects, clients, or jobs. Purchase another license for each one.
  • Do not use the theme for unlawful, fraudulent, infringing, defamatory, or harmful content.

How each license works

The deciding factor is paid access.

Standard License

The end product must be available to its end users without a fee to access or use it. You may still charge your client for professional services, sell unrelated goods or services through the end product, or support it with advertising, provided users are not paying for access to the end product itself.

Extended License

The end product may be sold or offered through a fee, subscription, membership, paid feature, or paid SaaS model. The Extended License still covers only one end product and does not grant the right to redistribute the theme or turn it into a competing reusable product.

Client projects

Either license may be used for one client. You may charge for your work and transfer the completed end product to that client. A different client or separate project requires a new license.

Support, updates, and third-party assets

Support and update availability are described on the product page or purchase terms and are not expanded by the license type. Fonts, plugins, images, and other third-party components may have their own licenses, which continue to apply.

Termination

Your rights continue while you comply with these terms. A material breach may terminate the license. If that happens, you must stop distributing or operating the non-compliant end product and remove the theme until the breach is resolved or Foxy Themes authorizes continued use.
